BMW has announced plans to introduce thei8 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.Set to be shown alongside the i3, the i8 is described as a contemporary plug-in hybrid sports car that combines impressive performance with the fuel consumption of a small car.

The company declined to release specifications but the model is expected to feature a tubocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor that develops 170 HP (125 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. This setup could enable the i8 to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than five seconds, consume less than 3 L/100km (78.4 mpg US / 94.1 mpg UK) and travel up to 35 km (20 miles) on electricity alone.

BMW will also use the Frankfurt Motor Show to introduce the 4-Series Coupe, the X5 and theActive Tourer Outdoor concept. Visitors will also be able to test drive a handful of models on an infinity-shaped track that is nearly 300 meters (984 feet) long and spans three levels.

Quella è un'altra cosa...E' esclusivamente elettrica e visto il prezzo di 400000, con tutto il rispetto per il mezzo, le sue soluzioni e per il suo record di velocità, con i suoi limiti comuni alle altre elettriche rappresenta il passato, l'ammissione definitiva che le sportive del futuro non potranno essere così! :-)

Che poi anche questa i8 mi lascia qualche dubbio..
