New Lotus Evora Sport 410 revealed ahead of Geneva motor show

More powerful, lightweight version of the Lotus Evora will go on sale in the UK in June

The new Lotus Evora Sport 410 has been revealed, ahead of next week’s Geneva motor show.

Although it's based on the Evora 400, the Evora Sport 410 is 70kg lighter. Weight has been shed by the use of carbonfibre components for the front splitter, roof panel, tailgate, rear diffuser, a one-piece tailgate and forged alloy wheels. This also accounts for an improved aerodynamic downforce of 15%.

Powering the model is a tuned version of the 3.5-litre six-cylinder supercharged engine from the track-bred 3-Eleven; it produces 453bhp and 302lb ft of torque mated to a manual gearbox.

With a lower centre of gravity, a kerb weight of 1325kg and that supercharged engine, the Sport 410 can sprint from 0-60mph in 3.9sec and go on to a top speed of 186mph. It can also lap Lotus's Hethel test track in 1min28sec.

An automatic transmission with paddle shifters is also available as an option.

According to Lotus, the suspension has been recalibrated to provide sharper handing and better body and roll control, while retaining ride comfort. A Torsen-type limited slip differential (LSD) has also been added to improve traction.

Sport and Race settings are available through Lotus’ Dynamic Performance Management system. They increase throttle response, lower traction slip thresholds and remove understeer recognition.

On the inside, the Evora Sport 410 gets carbonfibre sports seats trimmed with Alcantara and an integrated touchscreen infotainment system with iPod and Bluetooth connectivity.

As well as the standard paint choices, the new Evora can also be personalised via the recently-launched Lotus Exclusive programme.

Group Lotus chief executive Jean-Marc Gales said: “We couldn’t help ourselves. We wanted to make the Evora even better: lighter, faster and sharper, but our team has exceeded our expectations. Lotus has distilled what makes the Evora so special into something that’s even more focused. The result is dynamically excellent and nothing short of superb.”

The Sport 410 will be available in all major markets from June, and just 150 examples will be produced each year. A specific version for North America will be announced later this year.

Le vendite di Lotus stanno andando relativamente bene, rispetto al disastro lasciato da Bahar e sicuramente stanno lavorando ottimamente sulle varianti estreme della gamma (Exige V6 e 3-Eleven sono dei gran di mezzi, IMHO), però viene da chiedersi quali siano i progetti per il futuro...

3-eleven è più assimilabile a una radical o roba del genere. Bella tecnica, niente da dire, ma hanno evitato accuratamente di fare qualcosa di street legal.

C'è un errore nell'articolo o sono proprio 302 lb-ft ? Se è così, non sono "pochini" per un sovralimentato di 3 litri e mezzo ?

La "cura" di Dany Bahar (che fin dal primo momento non ho per nulla sopportato poiché già immaginavo come sarebbe andato a finire...) per il marchio Lotus è stata semplicemente disastrosa, e ancora oggi possiamo vederne gli strascichi. Personalmente l'Evora mi è sempre piaciuta un sacco, fin dal suo debutto nel (ormai) lontano 2008. Ma con l'ultimo restyling IMHO l'hanno davvero peggiorata molto e parecchio imbruttita. Questa versione è interessante dal punto d vista tecnico, ma ahimè col nuovo frontale c'è ben poco da fare per migliorarla esteticamente.
