Powertrain
The all-electric New Eclipse Cross is a milestone vehicle for Mitsubishi as the first 100% battery electric vehicle for the brand in the modern era. The new compact Eclipse Cross SUV is a breakthrough strategic model, playing a key role in the brand’s journey towards electrification in Europe.

At the heart of the New Eclipse Cross is its advanced powertrain built on the CMF-EV
platform and integrating sophisticated components allowing the compact SUV to deliver no matter what the scenario.

The Eclipse Cross will offer an advanced powertrain with two traction battery options to cater for diverse everyday needs; a long-range version is available from launch, with a mid-range version following in 2026. The long-range 87kWh battery extends driving distance significantly to approximately 600km, providing optimal performance for longer journeys without compromising on charging times or energy efficiency.

A water-cooled thermal management system helps optimise the New Eclipse Cross’s battery, ensuring reliable performance, extended durability, and safe operation, ultimately enhancing the overall driving experience and vehicle reliability. Add to this the New Eclipse Cross is equipped with a heat pump as well as a PTC heater on all versions to provide top level heating and cooling in the cabin without putting unnecessary pressure on the traction battery for power.

When out on the road, regenerative braking helps maximise range. Instead of wasting kinetic energy as heat as found in conventional friction braking, regenerative braking converts it back into electrical energy and stores it in the battery. Regenerative braking levels are controlled between four levels, B0-B3, using the paddles behind the steering wheel, so users can define the level that suits their driving style.

The New Eclipse Cross’s battery is linked to a highly efficient Electrically Excited Synchronous Machine [EESM] and single speed transmission to deliver power smoothly. The long-range variant of the New Eclipse Cross delivers 160kW/300Nm.

Driveability is embedded in the New Eclipse Cross, the powertrain setup means the allelectric compact SUV can reach a top speed of up to 170km/h, and from a standing start can reach 100km/h in as little as 8.4 seconds.

And thanks to the powertrain’s packaging and low centre of gravity, the compact SUV benefits from enhanced stability and cornering performance, while precise steering and advanced suspension systems ensure smooth and controlled manoeuvrability, making it both fun and safe to drive.

But an electric vehicle’s performance isn’t just counted out on the road, it also needs to meet customer demands when the battery needs charging.

The New Eclipse Cross allows both Mode 2 charging using a domestic socket, and Mode 3 AC charging up to 22kW using a dedicated charger and Type 2 socket. It means that no matter what the available infrastructure charging is always convenient. And when the compact SUV is out on the road heading on an adventure it can take advantage of the numerous public fast DC charging points at up to 150kW using the CCS socket.

The New Eclipse Cross offers the opportunity for drivers to adjust the compact SUV’s
dynamics specifically to their needs, maximising comfort and delivering the characteristics the driver wants through the Multi-Sense system. Using the SDA, the driver can shift through four different modes; personalise the setup completely by selecting PERSO; maximise Trade register Limburg Nr. 34081607 VAT NL 8021.38.937.B01 efficiency and reduce energy consumption by up to 10% with ECO mode; create the perfect balance with COMFORT mode; and enhance driving pleasure, agility and responsiveness with SPORT mode.

For drivers who want to push their eco credentials as far as possible The New Eclipse Cross’s Eco Score provides feedback on their driving behaviour. Through the central screen at the end of the journey, the driver receives an overall score out of 100 based on their acceleration and anticipation. And if they want to improve the vehicle can provide eco-coaching, with advice based on their scores, including tips on overall driving style, acceleration, and anticipation.

Digitalisation and connectivity
Digitalisation is a cornerstone of Mitsubishi’s vehicles, and the New Eclipse Cross delivers class-leading connectivity, bridging the space between consumer electronics and automotive, integrating the all-electric SUV as a part of the user’s life.

Inside the cabin, the 12.3” infotainment display is the central interface of the interior’s digital experience. The 3:4 portrait screen’s 960 x 1,280 resolution gives instant clarity to information, with an easy-to-use navigation bar , makes accessing and shifting through different information and functions simple.

The central screen is supplemented also with 12.3” Digital Driver Display, which present the driver with a clear view of the most important data, minimising distraction, and helping keep eyes on the road.

Thanks to Google built-in the best ecosystem of apps and services are instantly accessible; Google Maps to aid navigation with ePOIs, real-time maps, and live traffic info; Google Play, the app store with more than 100 car-ready apps, including gaming, music and video streaming apps ; Google Assistant that uses natural language voice recognition to command navigation, media streaming, phone and vehicle functionalities.

Getting started is seamless, users simply need to login to their Google account for a
completely personalised experience. The vehicle is added as a new device to the user’s account, so personal and historical information is synchronised.

For those who want to use their phone to access their mobile digital content, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto our available wirelessly, putting all the apps within easy reach as well as access to Siri and Google voice commands. Devices can also be wirelessly charged at up to 15W, (supports all compatible devices with Qi and MagSafe) or plugged into one of the cabin’s two USB-C ports located in the front armrest.

A high-fidelity Harmon & Kardon Premium Audio system means any content brought into the cabin will sound pitch perfect and exactly as the original creator intended. Users can enjoy any type of audio content using pre-defined listening modes – Studio, Podcast, Concert, Club, Immersion – giving a distinctive character to the sound and matching the individual’s mood.

With a power output of 410W, it provides clear, rich sound though the 10-channel setup. The system comprises of 2x 25mm tweeters mounted on the dashboard, 2x dual voice coil 150mm woofers in the front doors, 2x 140mm woofers + 2x 25mm tweeters in the rear doors, and a dual voice coil 150 x 224mm externally coupled subwoofer in the boot.

Users have complete control over the New Eclipse Cross through the Mitsubishi Motors app, using their smartphone to access functionality including Car Finder, Car Dashboard, Remote Pre-conditioning, Remote Charging, and Remote horn and lights.

The New Eclipse Cross takes connectivity to a new level offering subscription packages to improve the driving experience. The Connected Driving Pack gives contextual map data to enhance the compact SUV’s MI-PILOT semi-autonomous technology with real-time map data that considers road context and speed limit.

Customers can activate connected features with the dealer from the central infotainment screen. Once this takes place, the trial subscriptions start. And once the vehicle is paired to a Mitsubishi Motors account, the subscriptions are visible in the Mitsubishi Motors app.

Everyone wants to stay up to date and the New Eclipse Cross’s digital experience will
continue to improve over time of ownership with over-the-air updates sent directly to the vehicle. The firmware improvements will add bug fixes and patches that users might usually have need to visit a dealer for, but instead can be done by the driver only needing to accept the update on the infotainment screen and follow the instructions. With no cost to the customer and much less effort than going to a dealer for updates, it’s an efficient way to keep the all-electric compact SUV up to date and introduce new features as they become available.

Safety, convenience and comfort
The New Eclipse Cross harnesses the very best safety, convenience and comfort features to deliver a vehicle ready for any scenario. The all-electric compact SUV integrates advances in passive protection, a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems, and the latest traction battery safety functionality to provide all round reassurance.

Safety is built on the New Eclipse Cross’s structure; it includes high energy absorption materials to prevent severe deformation in crashes at speeds of up to 65km/h for front and rear impacts, and 50km/h for side impacts. The body-in-white is constructed from a mixture of cold stamped steels and hot stamped materials to deliver the right balance between rigidity and deformation. As an all-electric vehicle, the traction battery also plays a role; the battery casing is designed to protect the modules and enhance the overall stiffness of the vehicle.

The interior houses a range of technologies to protect cabin occupants in the event an incident occurs, including seven airbags: two front airbags (driver and passenger), two curtain airbags (left and right), two thorax airbags (left and right), and one far side airbag. Add to this three ISOfix positions – two in the rear and one in the front passenger seat – and the New Eclipse Cross has strong foundations to integrate even more advanced safety and convenience features.

As an all-electric compact SUV, vulnerable road users need to know if the New Eclipse Cross is approaching, and the vehicle emits an acoustic warning to pedestrians, cyclists, and others at 56-75dB. The system activates automatically when the engine starts and triggers sound at speeds of 1-30km/h, moving into standby mode when the speed exceeds approximately 25km/h, reactivating below this speed. There is even the option to choose between neutral and expressive sounds.

The New Eclipse Cross is designed to minimise the chances of any incident occurring, with a suite of up to 20 advanced driver assistance systems onboard that constantly observe the all-electric compact SUV’s surroundings. The systems are powered by a complement of sensors, including 12 ultrasonic, four cameras and a front facing radar to give a 360° view of what’s happening.

Minimising fatigue is the MI-PILOT (Mitsubishi Intelligent – PILOT) system. By linking Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go in conjunction with Lane Centring Assist (LCA) drivers can access MI-PILOT which proactively adapt speed to road context and keeps the vehicle centred in the lane and can fully stop the car.

Taking information from the cameras and radar, controlling the power steering and braking, MI-PILOT takes the strain out of long-distance driving on motorways and repeated stop-andgo traffic to keep drivers more comfortable and relaxed. The technology benefits from three user settings – Manual, Automatic – Road Context and Automatic – Legal Speed – so drivers can choose the level of control over the vehicle’s speed. The driver can quickly and easily take complete control back at any point.

Add to this systems including Automatic High Beam, Multi Collision Braking, Distance Warning, Emergency Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Warning and Rear Automatic Emergency Braking.

Usability is designed into the suite of technologies with the My Safety Perso option that gives control of which ADAS features are activated. By double pressing the My Safety switch, the user can revert to the “My Safety Perso” profile to deactivate or keep activated ADAS systems as configured in the SDA menu.

The user can personalise the activated ADAS systems on the SDA configuration page (“My Safety Perso”). The driver can reactivate all ADAS systems anytime by pressing the My Safety button again. It means the New Eclipse Cross is ready to make any journey simpler and trouble-free.

If the worst-case scenario does occur, however unlikely, it’s crucial the high-voltage traction battery can be safely controlled. To address these concerns, the New Eclipse Cross is equipped with safety features designed to protect first responders while they work on the vehicle.

A pyrotechnic disconnect switch means that when the on-board computer senses an airbag deployment, it automatically disconnects the vehicle’s traction battery to prevent any potential safety hazards. This eliminates the need for a manual battery disconnector.

Fire crews can also work freely and have complete access should they need to extinguish any fires. The firefighter access allows a hose to be connected, and the water flow breaks the upper disc and floods the high-voltage battery.

On top of all these systems is the eCall function, so if the worst does happen, help is only the press of a button away.

Mitsubishi Service Commitment
As with all Mitsubishi vehicles sold in Europe, the New Eclipse Cross comes with the
Mitsubishi Service Commitment, which includes:

  • 5-year/100 000km factory warranty, plus an additional three years of extended
conditional coverage, taking the total to 8-years/160,000km

  • 12-year anti-corrosion warranty.

  • 8-year/160 000km traction battery warranty.

  • 8-year roadside assistance (Mitsubishi Assistance Package), with the last three years
subject to the same conditions as the extended warranty.
