[h=2]Probably won't get a direct successor[/h]German media reports Mercedes-Benz will stop production of all SLS models in June* 2014.

Mercedes-Benz is making the SLS coupe and roadster family (SLS AMG, SLS AMG GT, SLS AMG Black Series) at the Sindelfingen, Germany factory which apparently will stop production of the SLS models next March probably to free up capacity for the already confirmed C190 (internal codename) which won't be a direct successor of the SLS.

The C190 will be smaller and lighter than the SLS and will be designed as a competitor for the Porsche 911. As a result, it will be a lot cheaper as various reports are indicating a starting price of about 109,000 EUR. Rumors are leaning towards a 2015 launch but the car could go into production sooner now that we know the SLS will be axed next March.

The C190 (aka SLC) is expected to feature a V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine developing 485 HP (357 kW). It will allegedly be followed by an S version with 550 HP (404 kW) and a range-topping Black Series derivative outputting 585 HP (430 kW).

Questa notizia andrebbe a cozzare con gli spies visti sino ad ora, a meno che non nascondano qualcos'altro: stando al blog mercedes-benz-passion, l'intera line up SLS vedrebbe la sua uscita di scena nel giugno del 2014.

Vogliono sottolineare che trattasi però di una speculazione basata su voci di corridoio.

Ab Februar 2014 wird die letzte Edition des Mercedes SLS AMG vermutlich bis Jahresmitte in einer limitierten Auflage produziert, zuvor verabschieden sich die drei Versionen SLS Coupé und Roadster, SLS GT und SLS Black Series. Einen Nachfolger für den SLS wird es indes nicht geben, hier beackert künftig der Mercedes GT AMG das Feld.

Aufgrund der Tarnung wird sicher die Frontschürze mit neuen Luftöffnungen versehen. Die Motorhaube erhält ebenso eine Styling-Update wie der Bereich um den Kühlergrill. Auch die Heckschürze sowie die Auspuffendrohre dürften verändert werden. Die auf den Bildern zu sehende Anhängerkupplung sollte nicht zur Final Edition gehören.
