Il telaio è basato sullo chassis della 911 GT3. Rispetto alla 911 Carrera, è

stato ribassato di circa 25 millimetri e reso più rigido.

Con la sola trazione posteriore, 530 cv e 680 Nm di coppia, la nuova GT2 aveva già battuto un record prima ancora di essere messa in vendita, aggiudicandosi il titolo di più potente 911 mai prodotta e omologata per uso stradale

La GT2 scatta da 0 a 100 km/h in 3″7 e raggiunge i 329 km/h.

Peso 1.440 Kg infatti la GT2 è più leggera di circa 145 Kg rispetto alla Turbo, e pesa solo 45 Kg in più rispetto alla vera “911-piuma”, ossia la GT3.

Walter Rohrl (e non uno qualunque) era stato in grado di girare al Ring in 7:32!
