Starting with the headlights, the overall shape will remain the same but new LED accents will feature. The indicator lamps will consist of a new row of LEDS situated at the top of the unit. BMW should also offer an all-LED headlight option, just as it plans to do with the 6-Series range.

Other changes should include new wheel designs, restyled bumpers and a revised rear spoiler.

As for the mechanical package, expect more power across the range starting with the base 740i, which may see as much as 350 horsepower, while the 750i may see a jump to around 450 horsepower. No word if BMW plans to keep its V-12 powered 760i.

All engines should be matched to the latest variation of ZF’s eight-speed automatic transmission, and we could even see a number of new EfficientDynamics features appear such as brake energy recovery, engine stop-start and more electronically powered ancillaries.

Succede che i collaudatori esagerino, anche quando non dovrebbero (tipo per strada, in città): ecco, in queste nuove foto spia, il tester della BMW alle prese con la polizia di Monaco di Baviera. In realtà, quello che c'interessa è la BMW Serie 7, l'ammiraglia bavarese che sta evidentemente per beneficiare di un leggero facelift estetico e di un importante aggiornamento tecnico.

Ritocchi. Da quello che s'intuisce nelle immagini, la berlina verrà aggiornata nello scudo paracolpi anteriore con inedite prese d'aria inferiori. Ritocchi previsti anche all'interno dei fari, in corrispondenza degl'indicatori di direzione. Modifiche potrebbero interessare anche i ripetitori laterali, che cambierebbero posizione: dalla parte bassa del parafango anteriore agli specchietti retrovisori.

Cambio a otto marce. Le modifiche sembrano tuttavia molto lievi anche nell'abitacolo, rimasto sostanzialmente immutato a eccezione del monitor, che sembra più largo. Più consistenti parrebbero essere gli aggiornamenti tecnici, come l'adozione su tutti i modelli del cambio automatico a otto marce in luogo del vecchio sei marce anche sui modelli a sei e otto cilindri.
