Press Release:

2014 Sierra Brings Bold Refinement to Full-size Trucks

Next-generation pickups feature advanced powertrains, design and technology

DETROIT – The all-new 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 full-size pickup is the most powerful, most advanced and most refined truck in the brand's 110-year history. Sierra's bold new exterior houses one of three all-new EcoTec3 engines, a fully updated cabin with available next-generation IntelliLink connectivity and other features designed for the most discerning truck owners.

"Our engineers and designers left nothing on the table when developing this latest Sierra pickup," said Tony DiSalle, vice president of GMC Marketing. "These trucks have all the power and capability that's expected in today's market, excellent fuel efficiency, plus a lot of unexpected, purposeful features developed with truck owners in mind."

In addition to all-new design and technology, the 2014 Sierra boasts the longest list of standard features ever for a full-size GMC pickup. From connectivity solutions, to a standard tie-down system in the rear, to the segment's only standard projector beam headlamps, many premium features are found on each and every all-new Sierra.

New EcoTec3 engines

Sierra's engine portfolio is updated for 2014 with the goal of increased in power, torque and fuel efficiency across the board. There will be a 4.3L V-6, a 5.3L V-8 and a 6.2L V-8 offered, all from a shared EcoTec3 engine family. Each engine features standard direct injection, continuously variable valve timing and Active Fuel Management, which means they seamlessly switch to run on four cylinders during light-load driving to save fuel.

The increased power and efficiency of the new engines are the result of more than 10 million hours of sophisticated computer modeling, more than half of which were used to make the best of the combustion process.

The new 4.3L V-6 EcoTec3 engine will offer improved torque and towing capacity for the six in 10 truck owners who tow.

"Rather than adapting a V-6 intended for use in passenger cars, we built a new engine from the ground up based on the unique demands of a truck," said Jordan Lee, powertrain chief engineer. "Sierra's 4.3L shares its basic design architecture with the latest iterations of the V-8 engines that GMC owners have trusted for generations."

Today's Sierra offers the best V-8 fuel economy in the industry and the new 5.3L EcoTec3 engine features significant updates intended to make it even more efficient. The available 6.2L V-8 EcoTec3 is engineered to provide outstanding capability.

SAE-certified horsepower and torque ratings and EPA fuel economy estimates for the new Sierra are not yet available, but are expected to be finalized early next year.

With the new engine designs and additional developments, customers should expect Sierra's second-generation Active Fuel Management to be more seamless and capable of operating longer in four-cylinder mode.

All three engines use lightweight aluminum blocks and heads and are mated with durable six-speed automatic transmissions. A "cruise grade braking" feature down-shifts the transmission on downgrades, which is intended to reduce brake wear. V-8 models use new, larger 9.5- and 9.76-inch rear axles with the strength to accommodate the engines' higher output. Final power and torque ratings will be announced later.

Duralife brake rotors and electric power steering

Strong brakes are important for stopping trucks, whether they're full of people, payload or both. The 2014 Sierra features four-wheel disc brakes with Duralife brake rotors, which feature a hardened and strengthened surface to reduce corrosion. Duralife rotors – a GM-exclusive technology – are expected to last twice as long as conventional rotors and provide quieter braking with less vibration.

The 2014 Sierra also uses electric power steering. An electric motor in place of an engine-driven hydraulic pump saves fuel and allows for tuning that's expected to result in a more consistent, crisp steering feel and plenty of assist for parking maneuvers.

The new standard in truck interiors

Premium materials, attention to detail and purposeful technology define Sierra's all-new cabin. New soft-touch materials and available aluminum trim line an interior that's focused on usable and productive space.

"Truck owners want a well-crafted cabin, but also one that still feels like a truck," said Helen Emsley, Sierra interior design director. "They want a purposeful interior, not one that's flowing like you'd find in a car or crossover."

Sierra has an upright instrument panel designed for visibility and accessibility. Knobs and buttons are large, legible and within reach. All knobs are coated using a rubber-over-mold technology, so they're easy to grip even through gloves.

A new instrument cluster on all models features six gauges with an available centrally located, 4.2-inch color Driver Information Center with vehicle status information, a trip computer, and other information, like radio and navigation.

A second, high-mounted glove box with a flat floor joins the traditional box below. Each of Sierra's doors has storage crafted to hold most beverage containers and other personal items. Along the center stack and center console are additional cupholders, discreet compartments large enough for most laptop computers, and connectivity options. Sierra is available with a 110-volt outlet, up to five USB ports, four 12-volt outlets and an SD card slot.

"Sierra sets a new standard for what's expected of a pickup truck interior," said DiSalle. "Our customers told us how they use their trucks and we listened. The combination of comfort, safety, space and technology is unprecedented in the segment."

Available IntelliLink connectivity uses an available high-definition, fully reconfigurable eight-inch color touchscreen with an intuitive layout and easy-to-read icons that control audio features, a Pandora app, Bluetooth phone features, and available navigation with all-new map displays. Many of the system's features can be controlled by voice command, allowing the driver to keep eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.

Sierra's seats use dual-density foam designed to stay comfortable over long hours and continue to look great after years of use. Leather and cloth will be offered, and Sierra's new high-wear cloth is designed to last longer and resist staining. A spilled drink will bead on the fabric, not soak in. Heated seats are available with cloth seats and standard with leather.

New door and bed configurations

For the first time on Extended Cab models, the 2014 Sierra has new front-hinged rear doors with outside pull handles at the rear, providing improved access in tight parking spaces. Unlike trucks with rear-hinged doors, Sierra's layout allows rear passengers to enter and exit the vehicle with the front doors remaining closed.

Crew Cab customers, who represent more than 60 percent of retail Sierra customers, can choose between two bed lengths; in addition to the current 5-foot, 8-inch box, a new 6-foot, 6-inch box is available. Regular cabs continue to be available with the 6-foot, 6-inch or 8-foot box lengths, while the extended cab will come exclusively with a 6-foot, 6-inch box.

Cargo box innovations

Sierra's rear bumper features standard corner steps that make climbing into the bed easy, regardless of whether the tailgate is up or down. The steps are paired with grips formed into the top of each bed side. Four movable upper tie downs are also standard. They can be placed in nine different locations and can bear a 500-pound (227 kg) load. Available LED cargo lights integrated beneath the bed rails will illuminate the bed when a tonneau cover is in place. The available EZ Lift and Lower tailgate uses an integrated torsion bar and damper to ease lifting and lowering.

Driver Alert Technology

A suite of active safety features will be optional for the 2014 Sierra, including Forward Collision Alert, which uses a forward-facing camera to notify the driver of an imminent collision, and Lane Departure Warning, which uses the same camera to track the truck's position in relation to a road's lane markers.

The camera technology was recently named a "Top Ten Tech Breakthrough of 2012" by Popular Mechanics.

Paired with Forward Collision Alert and Land Departure Warning is GMC's first-ever Driver Alert Seat, which generates vibrating pulse patterns on the left and/or right side of the lower seat cushion bolster to alert the driver of potential dangers, such as an un-signaled lane change or approaching another vehicle too quickly. According to GM research, the seat's vibrations may direct driver attention to the location of a potential collision more quickly and accurately than audible alerts. Drivers have the option of selecting either audible or vibrating alerts.

Quieter, stronger, more aerodynamic

Quietness doesn't only come from factors within the cabin. The 2014 Sierra features new aerodynamic measures that benefit fuel efficiency and reduce wind noise. Updated mirrors that reduce wind turbulence, triple-sealed inlaid doors, as well as roof and tailgate design features all help air flow smoothly quietly over the Sierra. Additional sealing around the grille, headlights and space between the cab and box are also designed to lower drag for the new trucks, along with new aerodynamic spats located in front of the rear wheels.

Updates to Sierra's body and chassis are designed to improve ride and handling, comfort and capability. The fully boxed frame uses high-strength steel and hydroforming to provide more strength and rigidity with less weight. New cab structures incorporate high-strength steel in the A-pillars, B-pillars, roof rails and rocker panels, while ultra-high-strength steel segments of the rocker panels provide added protection for shallow offset crashes.

Sierra's hood is aluminum, saving approximately 17 pounds versus a comparable steel hood. At the rear, a roll-formed box is stronger, lighter and more durable than a traditional stamped steel box.

Sierra uses aluminum for some suspension components for additional rigidity and weight saving, and new lightweight wheels are paired with low-rolling-resistance tires in most applications. The tires, along with new shear-style and redesigned hydraulic cab mounts, are designed to help reduce noise and vibration in the cabin.

"Pickups aren't just a tool for GMC owners – they're part of their everyday lives, and Sierra needs to be as useful on the way to the movies as it is on the way to a job site," said DiSalle. "The most important thing about the engineering behind this new truck is that it benefits owners in so many different ways."

Attention to detail

GMC designers approached the exterior of the 2014 Sierra with respect for its predecessors, evolving its familiar shape while adding distinctive details like standard projector headlamps, available LED signature accent lighting and detailed new grilles. All Sierra models have chrome grille surrounds and premium black wheel arch moldings. Different trim levels feature chrome belt moldings, mirror caps and door handles, as well as unique wheel designs and grille details.

Other new features include available front Park Assist, in addition to the rear Park Assist already available, and a sliding rear window with a defroster.

Distinctive All-Terrain model

Sierra All-Terrain has all-new styling for 2014. It includes a unique exterior appearance with a painted grille and less chrome, and is available as an extended cab or crew cab in a limited number of colors.

Standard equipment for Sierra All-Terrain includes the Z71 off-road suspension with monotube Rancho shocks, hill descent control, front recovery hooks, a transfer case shield and unique wheels and tires, along with an automatic locking rear differential that reacts in milliseconds in low-traction situations to improve safety and confidence on wet, snowy or muddy surfaces.

Sierra All Terrain is available exclusively with an ebony interior and with front bucket seats on SLE models. A carbon fiber-look seat accent is standard on SLT models.

Press Release HD:

New 2015 GMC Sierra HD: Smart, Capable and Comfortable

Bold style, enhanced interior and helpful technologies support class-leading capabilities

DALLAS – Designed to deliver class-leading capability with enhanced comfort and smarter technologies, the new 2015 GMC Sierra HD lineup advances a 111-year legacy of professional heavy-duty trucks.

The new Sierra HDs arrive in the first quarter of 2014, including 2500HD and 3500HD models, and the Sierra Denali HD, which matches do-it-all capability with an exclusive package of design and upscale interior amenities.

Segment-leading capabilities across the range include the highest payload – 7,374 pounds – and the highest conventional trailering rating – 19,600 pounds. The maximum fifth-wheel trailering rating is 23,200 pounds. Gas and Duramax diesel powertrains are offered, including a bi-fuel option that pairs the gas engine with a compressed natural gas system.

"Sierra HD trucks are engineered without compromise to deliver not only the capability today's heavy-duty truck customers demand, but the quality and refinement that inspire confidence with every task," said Tony DiSalle, vice president of GMC Marketing. "We've been doing this for more than a century, and nobody knows trucks like GMC."

Bold styling and an all-new, more comfortable and technology-infused interior are carried forward from the 2014 Sierra 1500, including new double cab and revised crew cab body styles. Larger rear doors on each, along with new seat designs, enable easier entry and exit from the rear seat and two inches of additional legroom on crew cabs.

The new interior is also designed to help drivers and passengers whether they're on the job or on a weekend getaway, with easier-to-reach, more intuitively located controls, more storage compartments, more plug-ins for electronic devices and the latest-generation GMC IntelliLink infotainment system – with an eight-inch-diagonal color touch screen.

"Forget the notion that heavy-duty trucks are basic tools with a trailer hitch," said DiSalle. "The 2015 Sierra HD trucks can haul the heaviest load with unmatched comfort and technology that make the job easier."

Additional new and enhanced features for the 2015 Sierra HD lineup:

• CornerStep rear bumper, EZ Lift and Lower tailgate, standard upper tie-downs and other features that make cargo handling easier

• Standard StabiliTrak with Trailer Sway Control on all models, including 3500HD dually

• Integrated cruise control, auto grade braking and diesel exhaust braking (diesel models), for greater driving control and reduced brake wear on grades

• Enhanced cooling airflow, which enables the Duramax turbo diesel and 6.0L gas engine to better maintain full power, even under heavy loads and high ambient temperatures

• Latest-generation IntelliLink infotainment system, which offers a variety of connectivity options for devices of all types and available navigation

Sierra Denali HD details

The distinctive Sierra Denali HD features a signature Denali chrome grille, unique interior decorative trim, a polished stainless steel exhaust outlet (gas models) and body-color front and rear bumpers. Complementing the soft-touch instrument panel trim and aluminum trim are Denali-specific interior details, including script on the bright door sills and embossed into the front seats.

Sierra Denali's high-tech interior also features an exclusive eight-inch customizable driver display that can show relevant settings, audio and navigation information in the instrument panel. Sierra Denali's standard eight-inch Color Touch navigation radio with Intellilink, located above the center console, serves as the main hub for Bluetooth-connected phones and portable devices connected through five standard USB ports.

Other features standard on Sierra Denali include projector-style headlamps with light-emitting diode signature daytime running lights, a Bose audio system, heated and cooled leather front bucket seats, a heated steering wheel and a power sliding rear window with defogger.

Sierra HD design and exterior features

Sierra HD trucks have a new face that conveys GMC's professional grade aesthetic with greater technical precision, including an all-new headlamp and grille design, power-dome hood – with specific badging on Duramax-equipped models – and a one-piece chrome bumper (body-color bumper on Denali). SLT and Denali models feature GMC's signature C-shaped LED daytime running lamps within the headlamp housings.

The new exterior design backs up its bold, advanced styling with efficiency-enhancing functionality. Improved aerodynamics allow the trucks to slip through the air with less drag and reduced wind noise, while the new grille design supports enhanced engine-cooling performance. It enhances efficiency and ensures Sierra HD delivers optimal performance under the toughest conditions, such as towing on a mountain grade.

New inlaid doors, which fit into recesses in the bodyside, help reduce wind noise for a quieter cab, while details including like the roof and tailgate spoiler were tuned in the wind tunnel to smooth airflow over the truck for reduced noise and improved aerodynamic efficiency.

Like the 2014 Sierra 1500, a new double cab body replaces the previous extended cab. It features longer, front-hinged rear doors with outside pull handles at the rear, providing improved access in tight parking spaces. New structural B-pillars were added to add to a solid feel.

Unlike trucks with rear-hinged doors, Sierra's double cab design allows rear passengers to enter and exit the vehicle with the front doors remaining closed. Crew cabs feature resized doors, too, including longer rear doors, which also make it easier to climb in and out of the rear seat.

Approximately 67 percent of each cab is constructed with high-strength and ultra-high-strength steels, used in the A-pillars, B-pillars, rockers and roof rails, as well strategic sections on the interior structure. Ultra-high-strength steel is used in areas of the rocker panels and underbody to help improve performance in crashes.

Cargo box innovations

Sierra HD models are available with 6'6" and 8' box lengths that are stronger and more durable, easier to use and offer greater cargo flexibility. The new CornerStep rear bumper – introduced on Sierra 1500 – is standard. It features integrated steps at each corner designed to accommodate large boots, with textured pads for sure-footed grip.

Sierra HD's boxes also feature four integrated cargo tie-down provisions built into the lower corners and new, standard upper tie-downs. The patented upper hooks – each rated at 250 pounds – can be placed in several locations around the upper bed rails, providing flexibility for securing loads of all shapes and sizes.

The EZ Lift-and-Lower tailgate is standard on SLE, SLT and Denali models. An internal torsion bar in the tailgate reduces the effort to raise and lower it, while a rotary damper allows for a controlled and more gradual lowering motion when opening. The tailgate is also easily removable without tools.

LED cargo box lighting is standard on SLE, SLT and Denali models. Two LED lights are mounted under the box side rails and are activated by a switch on the instrument panel, providing a light source when a tonneau cover is installed or a flashlight isn't available.

The boxes come with a two-tier loading design and offers more than four feet of loading space between the wheel houses, allowing standard 4' x 8' sheets of plywood to stack flatly on the box floor. There is also more than five feet of load space between the box walls. An available, factory-installed spray-in bed liner provides protection for the box floor and walls.

The two-tier design allows customers to insert a platform to separate items during hauling or conceal valuables below, such as power tools. It incorporates resting points at the same level as the tops of the wheel houses – enabling the platform to effectively divide the box into upper and lower sections. There are also built-in provisions for cargo bulkheads to subdivide the box even further.

A wide range of utility-enhancing accessories offered through GMC dealers makes Sierra HD cargo boxes more functional. They include tool boxes, bed liners, bed mats, box nets, ladder racks and more.

Intuitive, integrated interior

The 2015 Sierra HD lineup benefits from interior introduced on the 2014 Sierra 1500. Premium materials, greater attention to detail and purposeful technologies define the passenger space, with soft-touch materials and available aluminum trim providing premium accents to an interior designed to be a productive, easy-to-use environment.

An upright instrument panel is designed for visibility and accessibility, while the knobs and buttons are large. All knobs are coated using a rubber-over-mold technology that makes them easy to grip, even with gloves.

A new instrument cluster on all models features six gauges with an available centrally located, 4.2-inch-diagonal color driver information center, with vehicle status details, a trip computer and radio and navigation readouts.

A second, high-mounted glove box with a flat floor joins the traditional box below. Each of Sierra HD's doors has storage crafted to hold most beverage containers and other personal items. Along the center stack and center console are additional cupholders, discreet compartments large enough for most laptop computers, and connectivity options. Sierra HD is available with a 110-volt outlet, up to five USB ports, four 12-volt outlets and an SD card slot.

Available IntelliLink connectivity uses a reconfigurable eight-inch color touch screen with an intuitive layout and easy-to-read icons that control audio features, a Pandora app, Bluetooth phone features and available navigation with all-new map displays. Many of the system's features can be controlled by natural-language voice command, allowing drivers to keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.

Sierra HD's seats use dual-density foam designed to stay comfortable over long hours and continue to look great after years of use. Leather-appointed and cloth seating are offered, and Sierra's new high-wear cloth is designed to last longer and resist staining.

Heavy-duty foundation for greater capabilities

All Sierra HD models feature fully boxed frame assemblies – 18 different assemblies that accommodate more than 150 possible vehicle configurations across the lineup. Strategic enhancements support greater capabilities, including:

• Segment-leading maximum payload of 7,374 pounds

• Segment-leading conventional towing rating of up to 19,600 pounds (with factory-installed, frame-mounted box-tube hitch)

• Maximum fifth-wheel towing rating of 23,200 pounds.

A short-long arm/torsion bar front suspension is used on all models and features forged steel upper control arms and precision-machined cast iron lower control arms. Five different torsion bar rates support five different front gross axle weight ratings to help stabilize the range of trim heights of various models under load – including snow plows – while enhancing appearance, handling, durability, tire wear and alignment.

At the rear, an asymmetrical leaf-spring design minimizes axle hop and enhances traction control efficiency. A two-stage leaf-spring design is used on 2500HD models and three-stage design is employed on 3500HD model. All models feature 3-inch-wide (76 mm) leaf springs.

The Z71 Off Road suspension is available on SLE and SLT models and includes 35mm deflective disk twin-tube shock absorbers, off-road jounce bumpers, 33mm front stabilizer bar and a skid plate package.

Vehicle control technologies

Sierra HD's advanced vehicle control technologies are designed to make tough jobs easier and more comfortable, while also contributing to a safe driving experience, particularly when hauling cargo or towing a trailer.

StabiliTrak electronic stability control is standard on all single-rear-wheel models and – new for 2015 – 3500HD dual-rear-wheel models. It incorporates trailer sway control and hill start assist. Trailer sway control provides an added measure of confidence when towing a trailer by automatically intervening with braking and/or reduced engine power to bring the trailer under control and keep it on its intended path.

Hill start brake assist senses potential "rollback" when braking on an incline and holds full brake pressure momentarily after the driver lifts his or her foot from the pedal, preventing rollback – it is particularly effective when towing, giving the driver time to switch from the brake pedal to the gas pedal.

Available cruise control, auto grade braking, and diesel exhaust brake features help the vehicle maintain a set speed up and down grades, even when towing a heavy trailer. With the diesel exhaust brake feature, the turbocharger is used to smoothly and quietly create additional backpressure in the engine to help slow the vehicle. The combination of the exhaust brake and the automatic transmission downshifts helps the driver maintain the desired speed, even on steep grades.

Additional driver control features include four-wheel disc brakes, which are standard on all models, and four-wheel, four-channel ABS, which is standard on all single- and dual-rear-wheel models.

A rear-vision camera system is standard on SLE, SLT and Denali to give the driver a view of items behind the vehicle. It can also assist with lining up in front of a trailer.

Proven powertrains

A Vortec 6.0L gas V-8 with variable valve timing is matched with the Hydra-Matic 6L90 six-speed automatic transmission as the standard powertrain across the Sierra HD model range. This combination is engineered to deliver excellent performance and efficiency, especially at low-rpms. It is rated at 360 horsepower (268 kW) and 380 lb-ft of torque (515 Nm) in 2500HD models and 322 horsepower (240 kW) and 380 lb-ft (515 Nm) in 3500HD.

The 6.0L engine is also available in a bi-fuel model that features special hardened valves and valve seats that enables it to run on compressed natural gas or gasoline. The CNG fuel system is installed by a GM supplier and completed vehicles are delivered directly to the customer, making the purchase process as seamless as ordering any other option.

The Duramax 6.6L diesel and Allison 1000 six-speed automatic transmission powertrain combination is available on all 2500HD and 3500HD models, with highlights that include:

• 397 horsepower (296 kW) at 3,000 rpm

• 765 lb-ft of torque (1,037 Nm) at 1,600 rpm

• High-pressure (30,000 psi/2,000 bar) Piezo-actuated fuel system for greater fuel efficiency, improved performance and reduced emissions

• Variable vane turbocharger that also acts as an exhaust brake to help control or slow the vehicle's speed

• Selective catalytic reduction after-treatment system using diesel exhaust fluid injection to provide the best overall diesel characteristics and performance – with a range of about 5,000 miles (8,000 km) between DEF refills

• Combustion and after-treatment optimized to provide about 700 miles (1,125 km) between diesel particulate filter regenerations

• B20 biodiesel capability for an alternative fueling option.

The Allison 1000 features driver shift control with tap up/tap down shifting and a patented elevated idle mode cab warm-up feature. Also, the tow/haul mode reduces shift cycling for better control and improved cooling when towing or hauling heavy loads.

Verissimo. Poi l'assurdo è che spesso sono mezzi usati da chi abita in campagna/montagna come auto quotidiana, mentre i fuoristrada (i suv insomma), li usano solo in città

      Press Release (English)

GMC introduced the all-new 2018 GMC Terrain and unveiled the next chapter of GMC design via a boldly styled and intelligently engineered successor to the brand's popular compact SUV. The GMC Terrain offers greater refinement and versatility to adapt to customers' unique needs, and it's packed with more available advanced safety technologies than ever before.

GMC offers customers the widest range of choices yet, with three all-new available turbocharged propulsion systems, including a new turbo-diesel. Two new efficiency-enhancing nine-speed automatic transmissions are matched with the gas engines - a first application for the GMC lineup.

Continuing the momentum of owning 25 percent of GMC's overall retail sales, Denali returns to the Terrain with greater exclusivity than ever, offering a distinctive range-topping design and uniquely refined features.

"GMC's strong growth over the past decade is due in large part to Terrain," said Duncan Aldred, vice president of global GMC Sales and Marketing. "The all-new Terrain builds on that success, leveraging GMC's proven premium SUV experience to shake up the largest vehicle segment, with a strong blend of design, functionality and engineering excellence."

The 2018 GMC Terrain goes on sale in summer 2017 in SL, SLE, SLT and Denali models, maintaining the momentum created by the first-generation model, of which more than 700,000 have been sold in North America since it went on sale in 2009.

      Bold, modern design

The new GMC Terrain's bold exterior signals the next chapter of GMC's design language, evolving the brand's signature cues with stronger, sharper and more sculpted elements such as the grille and lighting features. Its shape was refined in the wind tunnel to help ensure the distinctive profile cuts through the air with optimal efficiency and quietness.

"It is a striking design with functional beauty," said Helen Emsley, executive director, Global GMC Design. "There's confidence and optimism in its stance, with exceptional attention to detail that speaks to GMC's rise as a premium brand."

Elevating GMC's new design, the all-new Terrain Denali will feature its signature chrome grille along with Denali-specific accents including body-color fascias and lower trim, plus chrome roof rails, door handles, side mirror caps and body-side molding. Additionally, LED headlamps and 19-inch ultra-bright machined aluminum wheels are standard on Denali.

All other models feature signature LED daytime running lamps and tail lamps. Bi-functional HID headlamps are standard on SL, SLE and SLT. Additionally, 17-inch wheels are standard on SL and SLE, with 18-inch wheels available on SL and SLE, and standard on SLT.

      Turbocharged propulsion choices

A range of three all-new turbocharged engines, including an all-new 1.6L turbo-diesel, provides more choices when it comes to performance, efficiency and capability in the all-new 2018 GMC Terrain. New 1.5L and 2.0L turbocharged gas engines are matched with two unique new nine-speed automatic transmissions, with the 2.0L turbo engine offering stronger acceleration and a higher degree of performance than its 1.5L counterpart.

GMC's new Electronic Precision Shift enables more storage room in the center console by replacing the conventional transmission shifter with electronically controlled gear selection consisting of intuitive push buttons and pull triggers.

The GMC Terrain comes standard with GMC's driver-controllable Traction Select system, which has choices for different driving conditions. Elements such as the throttle responses are optimized for the selected driving mode. AWD models include a FWD mode that disconnects the AWD system to minimize drag and optimize fuel economy, while the AWD mode offers all the benefits of an active AWD system.

      Refined, versatile and purposeful interior

Like the exterior, the new GMC Terrain's interior makes a statement and serves as a fundamental component of the vehicle's heightened emphasis on refinement and functionality. Elements such as authentic aluminum trim, soft-touch materials on the instrument panel and doors and standard active noise cancellation are premium features seamlessly integrated into the interior design for a luxurious customer experience.

The Terrain Denali heightens the GMC experience throughout the new interior with a unique trim tint color and Denali-specific logos and piping on the front seats. Denali customers will benefit from additional standard features including a heated steering wheel, navigation, Bose premium 7-speaker sound system and a hands-free programmable power liftgate.

An expanded center console with pass-through storage underneath and side-by-side cupholders adds to the Terrain's functionality. A new fold-flat front passenger seat and flat-folding rear seat help Terrain offer greater versatility for stowing longer items and make it easier to load cargo. There are also new under-floor compartments in the cargo area for more secure storage.

GMC keeps passengers connected with 7- and available 8-inch-diagonal infotainment systems, featuring compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality and a standard OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot (data plan purchase required after limited trial period) that can accommodate up to seven mobile devices. Owners can also manage their vehicles remotely with the industry-leading myGMC mobile app via their compatible smartphones. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility are subject to their terms, privacy statements and data plan rates, and require a compatible smartphone.

Every new GMC Terrain comes standard with five years of the OnStar Basic Plan at no additional cost. Among other benefits, this connectivity plan features OnStar Smart Driver, an opt-in service designed to help GMC owners maximize their vehicle's overall performance, reduce wear and tear, monitor fuel efficiency and become better drivers - all factors that add to the overall ownership experience.

      Expanded range of safety features

An expanded range of available active safety technologies is designed to enhance driver awareness and even help make it easier to park and maneuver in low-speed situations. The features include radar- and camera-based adaptive technologies that can provide alerts to potential crash threats, allowing the driver to react and make changes to potentially avoid them, including:

      New Surround Vision
New Forward Collision Alert with Following Distance Indicator
      New Low-Speed Forward Automatic Braking
New Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert
      Rear Cross Traffic Alert
      New Safety Alert Seat
The new Terrain also features GMC's new Rear Seat Reminder and Teen Driver. Rear Seat Reminder alerts drivers to check the back seat as they exit their vehicles under certain circumstances, while Teen Driver allows parents to set controls and review an in-vehicle report card in order to help encourage better driving habits, even when adults are not in the vehicle.
