Volkswagen Group of America CEO Michael Horn has revealed the 2016 Passat will be a "big step" in the right direction.Speaking to Motor Trend, Horn said the updated model will go "much further" than the 2015 Jetta. As he explained, the changes to the Jetta made it sportier and more dynamic but it's on "lower end of what we can do." Horn went on to say the 2016 Passat will be "very strong."

While the changes to the Jetta were relatively minor, the magazine is reporting we can expect an all-new model to be launched in 2017. It is expected to be based on the MQB platform and be significantly lighter than its predecessor.
