Designed to replace the SLS AMG, the SLC is envisioned as an affordable sports car that can battle the Porsche 911. It will reportedly ride on an aluminum space frame and be available exclusively as a coupe.

Engine options remain unconfirmed but Autobild says to expect three different powerplants. The entry-level model will reportedly have a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that develops 485 HP (357 kW). Moving up to the S variant should reward owners with 550 HP (404 kW), while the range-topping Black Series model could crank out 585 HP (430 kW).

The SLC will reportedly be launched in 2016 and have a base price of approximately €109,000 ($141,000 / £93,375).
