E se a gestire tutto c'e' Lapo Elkann con la sua incredibile visione da uomo di stile e di marketing (pensate a cosa a fatto negli anni in cui era l'Uomo Immagine Fiat) io sento l'odore di un successo!

Lapo non tornerà mai in FGA. Perlomeno finchè napoleone è al comando.

Giusto o sbagliato che sia, non vuole gente della famiglia in generale, meno che mai Lapo che è stato lui stesso a voler allontanare a prescindere dallo scandaletto.

Fiat want majority stake in Opel, says workers' council (1st Lead)

Ruesselsheim, Germany - Italian car manufacturer Fiat is set to buy a majority stake in German car manufacturer Opel the head of the Opel workers' council Klaus Franz told German Press Agency dpa Thursday.

Franz confirmed a report by the online site of German Spiegel news magazine, which said Fiat was to sign a declaration of intent as early as Tuesday.

Opel's management reject the idea of an Italian takeover, while Fiat would not comment on plans to invest in their German rival.

Franz claimed that Fiat was not interested in a strategic partnership, but feared they simply wanted short-term access to guarantees.

'Fiat has 14.2 billion euros of debt and huge liquidity problems. They can't get hold of money at the moment,' Franz said.

Last month German Chancellor Angela Merkel agreed to offer state aid to a potential Opel investor. Opel is a subsidiary of the struggling US giant General Motors.

Franz said he feared Fiat's true intention was to massively cut jobs, after the German elections in September.

'The government can't give guarantees for such a transparent plan,' the top workers' representative said.

Fiat is also in talks with GM-rival Chrysler to forge a new alliance which would help to save Chrysler from collapse.

FRANCOFORTE (Reuters) - Fiat firmerà una lettera di intenti per acquistare una quota di maggioranza della tedesca Opel martedì prossimo.

Lo riferisce il sito internet del giornale Spiegel. La casa tedesca, controllata dalla statunitense GM, non ha voluto commentare.

Non è stato possibile avere un commento da Fiat.

All'interno del governo tedesco sembra emergere sempre di più la volontà di fornire a Opel un garanzia statale nel caso venga trovato un investitore privato, secondo quanto riportato dal quotidiano tedesco Bild che cita una fonte dell'esecutivo.

Inoltre, secondo un altro giornale, il Rheinische Post, un consorzio austriaco e tedesco di fornitori che riunisce il fornitore di parti auto Magna e la casa automobilistica russa Gaz hanno manifestato un interesse in una quota nel capitale di Opel. Vengono citate fonti di governo.
