September's Frankfurt Motor Show is shaping up to be an Audi extravaganza, thanks to recent reports which indicate the company will unveil four vehicles at the show.

Besides debuting the redesigned A8 and the new A5 Sportback, Audi is expected to show the highly anticipated R8 Spyder and a R8 electric vehicle concept. Like the coupe, the R8 Spyder will be offered with a 4.2-liter V8 with 420 hp or a massive 5.2-liter V10 with 525 hp.

Details on R8 EV are scarce, it remains unclear if the concept will be a pure electric vehicle or a more contemporary gasoline-electric hybrid. While the chances of production are minimal, Audi probably wants to demonstrate they know alterative powertrains aren't always diesels.

Più che altro ho l'impressione che quell'auto sia considerata dai vertici aziendali come il biglietto per entrare definitivamente nell'olimpo del premium affiancandosi così, come prestigio, a Jaguar, Mercedes e Porsche; ricordi lo spot con l'R8 rossa a Maranello?

Sinceramente mi piacerebbe l'idea di una R8 elettrica anche perché data la sua natura 4x4 si potrebbe vedere un motore per ogni ruota togliendo la complicata trasmissione.

Sarebbe sicuramente una mossa di marketing sia per dare lustro all'R8 sia all'Audi e per dimostrare che la casa dei 4 anelli è all'avanguardia della tecnica.

Inoltre dato che le prossime compatte (A3 e A1) 4x4 potrebbero (sottolineo potrebbero) ricevere la trazione posteriore elettrica si inducono i clienti a pensare che l'elettrico non è solo per auto da ambientalisti incalliti o da "nonni col cappello", ma sono auto anche prestazionali ed emozionali.

beh, il V10 dei muletti che hanno preso fuoco non era l'attuale aspirato, bensì lo stesso V10 biturbo della RS6: non si riusciva a dissipare il calore aggiuntivo prodotto dalla sovralimentazione, il che portava rischi di incendio.

proprio per questo motivo quel motore è stato sostituito col V10 aspirato che oggi conosciamo.
