I thought the Alfa hatchback on STLA One will also be produced in Melfi. This article seems to support that:

Cappellano is talking about the New Tonale. Manta was scheduled for Melfi, and it was a D-seg car, sister model to the No8. For Pomigliano they assigned 2 compact cars, one Opel and one Alfa, according to rumors. It was also a rumor that they would be 2 crossovers (I did as well) but given that we now know the Alfa compact car will be a hatchback, that one probably wasn't accurate. The Leapmotor-Opel will be an SUV, not a crossover, and has nothing to do with any of the aforementioned models.

Cappellano is talking about both C Alfas. But the wording regarding Melfi is open for interpretation secondo me. But as there's a political meeting next week, things should be clearer.

The lines between hatchback/crossover and crossover/SUV are very blurry. Alfa Junior was introduced as a SUV while it has the same height as hatchbacks (R5, ID.Polo). Panda is called a hatchback while it's tall and riding high. Whatever the planned models for Pomigliano were, it was always unrealistic to expect the Astra to go south. I don't know any proper indication for that. Opel needs German presence and production to fulfil it's role. Rüsselheim needs product. And Italy isn't cheap either.
