Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg a prototype of the Audi TT Coupé was built with a V8 engine in the rear center position. This vehicle was originally intended to be presented as a showcar at a motor show to announce Audi's entry into the GT class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The idea was to build a small, limited series of a road-homologated sports car, serving as the basis for a GT class racing car to enter the Le Mans endurance race.

The base car was the Audi TT Coupé which was extensively rebuilt in order to install a 4.2l V8 engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, bringing power to the rear wheels. The body of the TT Coupé has been specially adapted with numerous air intakes and intakes: a large air extraction on the front cover for the radiator, side air intakes in the rear fenders and at the B-pillar in order to to bring fresh air to the V8.

Sicuramente spostare il motore nel didietro sarebbe stato un ottimo escamotage per compensare l'aerodinamica di merda che rendeva il posteriore "portante"

Audi A4 B6 con tetto ripiegabile in metallo by Valmet. Esemplare unico.

 

Ricordo un articolo di Quattroruote in cui vi erano delle ricostruzioni di A4 B6 nelle varianti coupè, cabrio, coupe 4 porte che in pratica anticipava la A5 Sportback che vide la luce anni dopo. Per caso qualcuno sa se effettivamente Audi aveva già in cantiere tale modello come variante di A4 B6?

Fully functional and mass production ready Plug-In-Hybrid which featured 2.3l gasoline engine combined with 9kW electric motor. 10kWh battery offered ~30km/18miles of electrical range. Roof had integrated solarpanels. Nowadays electric motor and ICE (internal combustion engine) work together seamlessly, but in Duo switching between EV and ICE required stopping the car. Only 10 Duos were produced and they served as taxis in Audis hometown Ingolstadt.
