Aston Martin has confirmed plans to build a production version of the DBX concept.

Announced as part of a £200 ($306 / €273) million capital investment increase, the DBX will be a "luxury GT crossover" that will attract new customers and help drive future growth.

In a statement, Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer said "The DBX concept has generated interest far beyond our expectations. The additional investment announced today will allow us to realize the DBX and other new luxury vehicles that will form the strongest and most diverse portfolio in our history.”

The company didn't have much to say about the production model but previous reports have suggested the crossover could be built in the United States and go on sale in 2019.

Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer says Alabama is the "obvious choice" for establishing a factory to build the DBX.

About a month ago we heard Aston Martin was analyzing the prospects of manufacturing the DBX at a new factory in United States and now company CEO Andy Palmer toldAutomotive News Europe that Alabama is the "obvious choice", but a final decision will be taken by the end of 2015. He went on to specify the DBX's main markets will be United States and China, but opening up a factory in China would be difficult since Aston Martin would have to team up with a local automaker to create a joint venture.

In addition, Palmer said it would be more difficult for AM to export vehicles from China which is why a U.S. plant in Alabama is the right way to go, especially since it will be close to where Mercedes-Benz makes its SUVs. Manufacturing the DBX at the company's Gaydon factory in UK is theoretically possible as the plant has a maximum capacity of 15,000 cars per year but adding the DBX to the assembly line would be a strain since there wouldn't be any room left for stoppage for maintenance. However, Palmer did admit an expansion of the UK factory is still being considered.

Così no... mostrano un concept bello e sportivo, e fanno il solito SUV di famiglia...

 

Sembra solo un Jaguar...

 

Spero che il Purosangue non sarà il solito SUV che fanno gli altri...

Per carità, è bello anche se va contro il mio ideale di auto sportiva. Tutti con i SUV....insomma......che depressione.

Ma niente questo a guardarlo così è la solita UV che fanno gli altri!

 

Poi che fosse ben lontano dalla concept anche solo per il numero di porte lo si sapeva da un po’!

E pure Purosangue avrà più di 3 porte!

 

Ragazzi, le macchine vengono fatte per essere vendute! E se si vogliono aumentare margini o produzione per forza di cose devi esplorare in nuovi mercati, e a questi mercati dell’heritage e le auto sportive, basse e scomode non le vogliono. Sono aziende non onlus ??‍♂️

Anche a me e' sembrato subito molto Jaguar nella vista laterale.
