C'è veramente tanto spazio fra ruota anteriore ed inizio porta, ha delle volumetrie da trazione posteriore :)

Ma siamo sicuri sia TA? :) Magari punta più al 4x4, come Audi...

S90 partì da qui, nel 2008, con il muletto laboratorio "Costello"

[h=2]Was built back in 2008[/h]Volvo has taken the wraps off the Costello engineering prototype which in the meantime has evolved to become the S90.

It has the old design language because it was manufactured back in 2008 with the purpose of convincing the company's board to invest in the newly developed Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). The platform made its debut a while back in the second generation XC90 and it has also served as foundation for the forthcoming S90 set to replace the aging S80 mid-size sedan.

Volvo mentions the Costello provides a glimpse of the SPA's potential for an increased level of performance compared to the old models that used the proprietary P2 architecture or Ford’s EUCD platform. While the engineering prototype was based on Ford’s structure, Volvo installed a new integral link rear suspension along with their double wishbone front setup, with power being provided by Volvo’s 5-cylinder turbo which was further tweaked specifically for the Costello.

According to principle engineer Roger Wallgren from the company's Vehicle Dynamics team, the prototype’s performance was impressive enough to convince the executives to permit investment in the SPA platform.

As far as the S90 is concerned, we all know how it will look like based on several photos showing official scale models featuring a far more attractive design compared to the outgoing S80. Volvo's new mid-size sedan is due before the end of this year and we already know it will spawn a V90 wagon version expected to be unveiled sometime in 2016.
