New CUPRA Born brings electrifying performance with new striking design, improved interiors and greater technology

CUPRA continues to challenge convention with the new CUPRA Born. The brand’s first all‑electric car evolves into a sharper, more emotional challenger, re‑engineered to deliver a new striking design, improved interiors and greater technology.

With a range of more than 600* kilometres, power outputs up to 240kW (326PS), and innovations such as Matrix LED lighting, the CUPRA Born strengthens the brand’s identity as an unconventional challenger brand.

Designed and developed in Barcelona, the new CUPRA Born will be produced in Zwickau, Germany. It embodies CUPRA’s progressive spirit, combining electrification with performance, sustainability with style, and digitalisation with emotion. Production will begin in the second quarter of 2026, with the market launch scheduled for the summer 2026.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

New exterior striking design: The new CUPRA Born embraces the brand’s latest design language DNA with a shark‑nose front end, newly designed front and rear bumpers, triangular Matrix LED headlights, and illuminated rear logo integrated in the 3D rear light.

Upgraded interior: The cabin delivers a higher‑quality feel with redesigned front and rear door panels, redesigned steering wheel featuring physical controls, complemented by circular materials including dashboard mouldings made from 75% recycled materials, as well as SEAQUAL Yarn from upcycled marine plastics or 73% Dinamica® recycled textile in the central section of the front and rear lateral seats areas.

Digital immersion at the core: A 12.9’’ infotainment with a new OS powered by Android, framed by an illuminated slider and a new, larger 10.25’’ digital cockpit enhances the immersive experience, supported by augmented reality head‑up display.

Upgrade in the Sound System and new interior sound signature: Sennheiser’s Contrabass technologyprovides immersive bass performance, while CUPRA’s new Interior Sound signature delivers a stronger connection between driver and machine in Performance and CUPRA driving modes.

Expanded powertrain line‑up and simplified commercial offer: three motor‑battery configurations to choose your performance: 140kW/58kWh, 170kW/79kWh and the VZ version with 240kW/79kWh. To be customised with 6 exterior colours – including the new Timanfaya Grey -, 5 alloy wheels between 19 and 20’’, 4 interior ambient and 4 optional packs.

Enhanced technology and convenience: Front and Rear illuminated door handles, new rear air vents, bike rack towing hook, Mobile Device Key. And Vehicle‑to‑Load(V2L) capability to enable the Born to power external devices such as laptops, e-bikes or full powered sound systems.

Sharper dynamics and driving technologies: One‑pedal driving, launch control, progressive steering, ESC Sport and wider 235mm tyres for both 19’’ and 20’’ wheelssharpen agility, supported by five driver profiles and up to 15 levels of Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC Sport) adjustment.

Safety systems re‑engineered: new Travel Assist with cloud‑enhanced longitudinal control, new Crossroad Assist, upgraded Front Assist with multi‑stage warnings, and Precrash with rear detection to deliver intelligent protection.

EXTERIOR DESIGN

The new CUPRA Born is a bold statement and a deep evolution, redefining the identity of CUPRA’s first all-electric car and aligning it with the daring spirit of brand’s latest design language.

The more provocative exterior design radiates pure emotion through every line and every detail, crafted to convey character and performance. The CUPRA Born’s design is an evolution that embodies the brand’s energy taken to new boundaries.

The vehicle’s iconic shark nose defines the upper section and flows into the three triangle Matrix LED headlights, which form CUPRA’s distinctive lighting signature,complemented by a unique new light ceremony that enhances the vehicle’s style and sense of theatre even before stepping inside.

In the new CUPRA Born, the new LED headlight design and technology has been taken to the next evolution with the optional Matrix LEDs. The system allows the lighting to adapt to the driving environment, incorporating innovations such as glare-free High Beam function, which detects vehicles in front of it and adjusts the beam of light to provide maximum illumination without dazzling other users nor losing visibility.

Lower down, the new central grille’s parametric design adds sophistication and aerodynamic efficiency. The iconic horizontal blade is now more technical, finished in copper, a detail that underlines CUPRA’s identity and reinforces its DNA. Flanking the grille, air curtains and C‑shaped gestures channel airflow, optimising efficiency and the vehicle’s overall character.

The reimagined rear delivers an emotional presence through its redesigned bumper and tailgate. A more prominent diffuser reinforces the Born’s sporty DNA, while the contrasting colour scheme extends the dark area down to the ground, reducing visual weight and giving the car a more planted, assertive stance. Every element flows, connects and radiates strength, ensuring that the CUPRA Born’s exterior is not only visually striking but also aerodynamically efficient.

The rear is framed by LED taillights featuring CUPRA’s signature three triangles design, and an illuminated logo, now enhanced with a 3D light effect that adds depth and sophistication. The distinctive welcome ceremony – linked to the front LEDs – increases the characterful of the rear design. At night, the CUPRA Born becomes an unmistakable silhouette, instantly recognisable and deeply sophisticated. As a subtle and practical addition to the package, front and rear door handles are now illuminated.

The wheels of the new CUPRA Born have been conceived to combine emotional design with functional performance. The range now offers five distinct choices: two new 19”alloy wheels that balance elegance with agility, and three 20” designs, including a striking new copper finish for the Firestorm wheel. With the new CUPRA Born, the 235mm wider tires are also available for the new 19’’ wheels. Together, they provide customers with options that combine advanced aerodynamics and uncompromising style.

The exterior colour palette has also been updated to reinforce individuality and sophistication. Alongside established finishes such as Glacial White, Midnight Black, Aurora Blue, Vapor Grey and Dark Forest, the Born introduces Timanfaya Grey, a new shade that adds depth and intensity to the range.

The new CUPRA Born’s exterior is re‑imagined, with every detail reconsidered to deliver greater emotion and sophistication while helping achieve new levels of performance and efficiency.

INTERIOR DESIGN

The updated CUPRA Born’s interior continues to challenge expectations by pushing forward with deeper digital immersion, more high-end tactile detail with a focus on environmental sustainability. The CUPRA Born elevates the emotional, driver‑focused spirit of the brand’s original all-electric.

Together with the 12.9" infotainment display – framed by an illuminated sliding bar -, the new 10.25" digital cockpit(previously: 5.3’’) offers a more immersive readout, giving drivers increased clarity of the information most important to them. A redesigned lighting controls module further enhances usability, allowing exterior illumination to be commanded in a simpler, more intuitive way.

Driver-vehicle interaction is primarily through the redesigned steering wheel featuring physical controls. The shift to physical controls enhances precision and responsiveness, allowing drivers to interact with key functions with greater ease and fluidity, creating a more direct, confident connection. The steering wheel integrates satellite buttons to select the driving modes as well as regenerative paddle shifts (for the 170kW and 240kW motors).

Once installed in the cabin, driver and front passenger clasped by the standard Bucket seats (or the CUPBucket seats for the VZ version), will instantly see the Born’s design philosophy. Expressive internal lines, bold surface transitions and a sharp sense of character define the cabin, and the sculpted dashboard sweeps toward the driver, maintaining the model’s driver‑centric orientation.

The redesigned front and rear doors panels focus on material quality and design sophistication. A soft shoulder along the door creates a welcoming, sculptural feel, while large decorative parametric patterned inserts echo the geometry of the dashboard, reinforcing design unity across the cabin.

Copper accents, characteristic of CUPRA DNA, remain throughout the cabin, from the steering wheel to trim elements, reinforcing the model’s identity with a touch of warmth and sophistication. They extend to the door latches and decorative piece, building the interior character. Design improvement also reaches into new approaches to convenience; on the driver’s side door, switches have been improved, with four‑window control consolidated into a clean, intuitive panel.

As with the exterior, lighting is a crucial element of the interiors character. Ambient lighting flows cascades through the door, subtly animating in sync with the chosen mode.

Rear passenger comfort has also been enhanced. Rear air vents are added into the back of the centre console, enhancing climate distribution. Combined with the new rear door panels, the rear cabin now delivers a more unified, cohesive atmosphere that flows through the entire vehicle.

Circular materials remain core to the Born’s identity, with standard bucket seats upholstered in SEAQUAL® Yarnderived from upcycled marine plastics, or optional 73% Dinamica® recycled textile in the central section of the front and rear lateral seats areas. Additionally, the new dashboard moulding performing an expressive 3D parametric design is built with 75% recycled material. All of this reinforce CUPRA’s commitment to environmental sustainability without compromising quality or sophistication.

The new CUPRA Born refines its interior essence. The new screen, enhanced materials and finishes reflect CUPRA’s relentless drive to evolve, surprise and improve. The new CUPRA Born remains an unconventional challenger, but now with a more cohesive and gratifying way to connect, drive and experience CUPRA.

POWERTRAIN AND CHASSIS

Underneath the CUPRA Born’s striking exterior lies one of the most advanced, and real-world performance specified electric powertrains. The new generation introduces a broader range of motor and battery options, designed to meet diverse customer needs while reinforcing CUPRA’s performance credentials.

Three motor-battery configurations available:

CUPRA’s wallbox solutions provide customers with complete control over home charging, while the My CUPRA app ensures seamless access to thousands of public stations.

Beyond raw figures, the new CUPRA Born introduces new driving technologies that deepen the emotional connection between car and driver. One‑pedal driving allows acceleration and deceleration to be managed using only the accelerator pedal. By lifting off the accelerator, the vehicle automatically decelerates through regenerative braking, recovering energy and reducing reliance on the brake pedal. This function delivers smoother deceleration, greater energy recovery and a more intuitive driving experience, particularly effective in urban environments and stop‑and‑go traffic, allowing the vehicle to come to a complete stop without using the brake pedal.

And there is also playfulness baked into the new all-electric Born. Launch control – exclusive to the VZ and ENDURANCE trims - adds another layer of excitement, managing torque delivery to achieve maximum acceleration from standstill.

Progressive steering and ESC Sport combine with wider 235mm tyres across all 19’’ and 20’’ wheels to enhance grip and road adherence.

Range, Comfort, Performance, Individual and CUPRA mode driver profiles modify engine response, steering and suspension settings, with up to 15 levels of adjustment available through Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC). Range mode prioritises efficiency, Comfort mode smooths suspension for long journeys, Performance mode unlocks dynamic capability, and CUPRA mode delivers maximum emotional impact. Individual mode allows drivers to personalise the configuration to their exact preferences.

NEW CUPRA BORN VZ: CUPRA PERFORMANCE AT ITS FULLEST

The new CUPRA Born VZ is the most powerful and performance-focused version in the line-up. Available from launch, it proves that electrification and performance are a perfect match.

A 240kW (326PS) electric motor delivers 545Nm of instant torque, taking the CUPRA Born VZ from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.6 seconds, and raising top speed to 200km/h. Despite its increased power, it still offers a benchmark electric range of around 600km.

Inside, the Born VZ amplifies driver engagement. CUPBucket seats position the driver closer to the car’s centre of gravity, while regenerative paddle shifts allow instant control over energy recuperation. The experience is further intensified by a new interior sound signature that adds emotional depth to the driving environment.

The Born VZ’s dynamic behaviour induces to a really emotional experience thanks to the strong braking feel, robust suspension tuning, and sharp steering and pedal response. The new launch control function delivers the car’s  full performance from a standstill in an emotionally engaging way. A distinctive VZ emblem at the rear completes its more assertive identity.

The CUPRA Born VZ embodies CUPRA performance at its fullest: electrified, intensified, and engineered for drivers who demand emotion, capability and character in every journey.

INFOTAINMENT, DIGITALISATION AND CONVENIENCE

The CUPRA Born ushers in a new era of digital immersion, led by its new Operating System powered by Android. It transforms the user experience, offering seamless access to a wide range of apps via an integrated app store, and familiar smartphone functionality into the driving environment, all housed in a 12.9” central touchscreen framed by an illuminated sliding bar to add depth and dynamism.

Devices brought into the new CUPRA Born’s cabin benefit from up to 90W total USB-C charging power (up to 45W available at the front and 45W at the rear). And if an uncluttered experience is key for the user, 15W wireless charging - with refrigerated technology -  is available by simply sliding the device into the centre storage between the driver and front seat passenger.

Digitalisation is the backbone of the new CUPRA Born, with the introduction of the Mobile Device Key, drivers can unlock, start and share access to the vehicle using their smartphone. Up to four digital keys can be shared, with a fifth reserved for the primary user. Added functions such as Open on Approach and Walk Away Lock enhance convenience, while a Smart Card provides temporary access.

Audio quality is elevated with the integration of Sennheiser’s Contrabass technology into the premium sound system with 10 speakers. The bass enhancement system uses psychoacoustic techniques to deliver deep, punchy low‑end frequencies, creating a rich and immersive soundscape.

A new emotionally tuned interior sound signature, available in CUPRA and Performance driving mode, strengthens the connection between driver and machine. Developed to react to throttle input, speed, and driving mode, the sound experience reinforces the sense of performance without becoming intrusive — designed to match the Born’s character and amplify the thrill of electric driving. The result: pure electric emotion.

Practicality meets innovation with the vehicle‑to‑Load (V2L) capability. This feature allows the car’s battery to power external devices such as laptops, e-bikes or full powered sound systems. Enabled via a dedicated adapter, V2L transforms the new CUPRA Born into a portable energy source, ideal for outdoor adventures.

The new CUPRA Born features for the first time a bike rack towing hook as optional, offering more possibilities for outdoor lovers.

The technology goes beyond aesthetics. A cascade effect animates the doors, console and dashboard, creating a sense of flow and depth. Welcome and exit ceremonies greet the driver with choreographed light signatures, reinforcing the Born’s distinctive identity. Smart Light integration also ensures that illumination serves a functional role, providing visual cues for driver assistance alerts and enhancing safety without breaking immersion.

SAFETY

The CUPRA Born’s suite of safety systems ensures that the high-performance EV remains one of the safest and most intuitive vehicles in its segment. Designed to support the driver, the technologies reflect CUPRA’s commitment to intelligent protection and dynamic confidence.

At the heart is the new Travel Assist, an evolution that now integrates cloud-based data to enhance longitudinal control. The system recognises speed bumps, traffic light stopping point and pedestrian crossings. It’s also able to optimise speed when approaching bends. Working in tandem with Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist, Travel Assist helps keep the vehicle centred and responsive across all speed ranges.

The new Crossroad Assist system is designed to prevent collisions at junctions. By monitoring speed, distance and traffic signals, the system warns the driver via the digital cockpit and can autonomously brake if a collision risk is detected. This proactive intervention is especially valuable in complex urban environments where driver distraction could be an issue.

The all-electric vehicle’s Front Assist system is refined to offer multi-stage collision mitigation. It now detects up to two vehicles ahead and prepares the car for emergency braking. The system provides escalating warnings — visual, acoustic and tactile — before initiating automatic braking if necessary. This layered approach ensures the driver remains engaged while the vehicle remains ready to intervene.

Precrash functionality has also been upgraded. In the event of an imminent collision, the system coordinates with ESC and Front Assist to activate seatbelt tensioners, close windows and sunroof and switch on hazard lights. A new rear precrash detection feature adds further protection, ensuring the Born responds to incidents from any directions.

These systems are supported by a network of radar, camera and ultrasonic sensors, as well as external data sources, creating a real-time picture of the vehicle’s surroundings.

Finally, the new CUPRA Born’s matrix LED headlight technology delivers a crisper view of the road when daylight fades, giving drivers reassurance of what’s ahead. It adapts to the driving environment, detecting vehicles in front and adjusting the beam of light to maximise illumination without dazzling oncoming vehicles.

Additional features such as Side and Exit Assist, Intelligent Park Assist, Light Assist and the upgraded Top View Camera further enhance everyday usability. Together, they ensure the CUPRA Born delivers not only the dynamic performance expected of the brand, but also a level of safety and reassurance too.
